A Lucy Winthrop
Adventure
Part One
(Hello)
Lucy walked into the lecture hall
a tad bit perturbed shaking the rain off her books. She had been using them to shield herself
from the flash rain storm that appeared out of nowhere. “Stupid Weather Forecasters” She thought
angrily. “Seriously who pays these
idiots?” Lucy sighed quietly as nearly a hundred heads turned to look at her
when the door closed noisily behind her.
It really just wasn't her day she thought while looking for a vacant
seat. Professor Stevens just eyed her
disapprovingly as he continued on with his lecture. Lucy managed to find a seat in the very back
and sat down with disappointment. Except
for today, Lucy was typically on time, if not early, and seated in the front
row. Advanced Music Theory was by far
her favorite course and it was only an added bonus that Professor Stevens, Aka
Dr. Andrew Stevens, or as the girls who fawned over him called him behind his
back, Dr. Drew, was teaching this very class.
He had earned the moniker due to popularity of another MTV Icon who
handled the broken and overly fortunate train wrecks of Hollywood.
One key aspect was this Dr. Drew was by far a sexier version. Lucy stared, doe eyed as Dr. Stevens rambled
on about opera this and tenor that. Truly he could have been reading from the
phone book and the majority of this class, Lucy included, would seem overly
attentive. It was his charm that brought
the students into the classroom and he was completely oblivious to this fact.
Early in her freshman year Lucy
had decided that Dr. Stevens was exactly what she wanted in a man when she
settled down, whenever that would be. In
the meantime she didn't mind imagining what he would be like in bed. Yes he was happily married and yes he was a professor
at the University but Lucy just wrote it off as a kind of schoolgirl coming of
age crush. “Everyone fantasizes about
one of their teachers at some point in life,” Lucy had convinced herself. There was just one minor detail at this
point. She was now in her senior year at
the university and still scurrying to the front of the class in some slight
hope that he would know she wanted him.
“Seriously what is your problem you horn dog” Lucy thought to herself as
she angrily watched some flighty blonde coed drop her pen on purpose for Dr.
Stevens to kindly pick up. He was no
Brad Pitt but he was so much more. A
total package some would say. Average
height, average build, average face, a rough short beard and a decently dressed
man, all just ok, but… it was when he spoke and smiled that he captured you and
won you over. His eyes showed you his
zest for life and passion escaped his lips with every word. The girls loved every second in his
presence. And to think he thought it was
just because he was a good teacher.
