Fresh Start

She stood bundled in her wool coat watching the children play as the sun glinted bright off the snow. She smiled thinking how easy it was to be a child. It was a time when simple rope was much more than just simple rope. As the town’s children tugged one another around on a metal trash can lid, sliding over the crisp fallen snow, she spooned more sugar into her already too sweet cup. Turning with a smile, nearly running into him, she caught his glance and her heart quickened. She was going to really like living here.
